The wedding bells are ringing. Preparations are in full swing. Have you decided on your theme and venue? The cake? Decorations?

As your excitement grows, you might have noticed that your matrimonial bill is growing too. With wedding planning comes many unforeseeable additional costs, so it's always those last-minute decisions that can make or break your budget.

Case in point: wedding transport. If you don't think about it now, you might end up arriving at the venue in your uncle's ancient Reliant Robin.

But don't fret just yet. We've got you covered with our bitesize guide to hiring wedding wheels.

Limousines

Do you have a classy, modern chic vibe in mind? Perhaps your venue is a fancy restaurant or bar that caters to weddings? If you've got the need and the budget, a limo might be the way to go.

In the UK, prices range from £150 to £240 for a smaller limousine and up to £450 for a bigger one. You'll make a big impression, for sure – but your wallet might feel a little smaller.

To manage the cost, watch out for hidden fees. For instance, some companies charge more for working late or providing champagne. Make sure you check whether you're paying for the full day or by the hour, too.

Minibuses

If you don't want a limo, but you still want space for your whole bridal party, consider hiring a minibus or minivan.

They come in lots of styles and sizes, so there'll be something on the market to suit any wedding.

Beach wedding? Why not go for a traditional Volkswagen camper van? They come in a variety of colours and look great in wedding photos.

They're not cheap, though. A one-day hire is around £320 to £400, on average. (Again, look out for those sneaky hidden costs.)

Or, if you want something with a modern look, why not book one of our minibuses? We have nine-, 12- and 17-seater options available in a selection of smart colours.

Now, we're not strictly a wedding car hire company. But that could turn out to be a big boon for your budget.

As you might have noticed, as soon as the word "wedding" is mentioned, prices tend to triple. We keep things simple and provide smart, clean, reliable vehicles at a very reasonable price.

Motorbikes

Why not break tradition entirely and go for a motorbike?

OK, so motorbikes might not chime with everyone's idea of the perfect wedding. But just imagine vrooming to the venue on a Harley Davidson. It would make for some cool wedding photos, for sure.

You could hire a bike for the day, borrow a friend's bike or even use your own – if you have one.

It may not be the most practical option but it's sure to wow your guests.

Cars of all shapes and sizes

With wedding cars, the possibilities are endless. To help you out, here are some ideas that might suit the theme you have in mind.

If you've picked a rustic theme – perhaps for an outdoor wedding or barn wedding – then a Land Rover or decorated truck could do the job nicely.

Or maybe you're the chic, stylish type. If so, a sports car might be the way to go.

Hire fees for sports cars like Porsches, Rolls Royces and Bentleys can vary widely. Expect to pay anything from £150 to £500.

Are you planning a vintage or noir theme? A vintage car could be ideal. They're quite easy to find online and cost around £150 to £300 for the day.

Perhaps you're going for the fairytale vibe – all princesses, gowns and ballrooms. If so, a traditional horse-drawn carriage might be the showstopper you need.

It might be a stretch to call it a "car", but who cares? It would look incredible in your wedding album.

And, finally, if you're sure your wedding day will be bright and sunny, then why not go for a convertible? They're stylish and fun, if not a little expensive.

Budget options

If your wedding coffers won't allow for a sports car or horse-drawn carriage, why not shop around for a chic-looking "budget" car from a car hire firm?

For example, at Metro Vehicle Hire, we have sleek, wedding-ready cars available for a fraction of the cost of a speciality vehicle.

Or, if your budget is really stretched, you could call in a favour from a friend or relative. Does your cousin Sarah have a gorgeous BMW 5-Series in tip-top condition? Ask if you can borrow it for the day!

Not only will you make your big day a real family affair, but you'll also cut your transport costs down to zero. (Although it's probably wise to offer a little petrol money in return for their kindness.)

So with all the options of cars, minivans, motorbikes and limousines, have you made your decision? We hope you have fun choosing and have the most wonderful wedding day.
